How to get to the Town Hall
To get from the central station to the town hall, tram lines are available. All lines take about three to five minutes to get the town hall.
From the central station the following metro lines are available:
- Tram line 101 in the direction of Germaniaplatz
- Tram line 103 in the direction of Wertstr.
- Tram line 105 in the direction of Unterstr.
- Tram line 106 in the direction of Altenessen Bf
- Tram line 107 in the direction of GE-Hauptbahnhof
Leave the tram at the next station “Rathaus Essen” and take the exit to the town hall (“Rathaus”).
For using the tram a ticket of the price level A (short trip) is needed. It costs 1.50 EUR and can be bought at the ticket machines in the metro stations. For groups, it may also be cheaper to buy a 4erTicket (5.70 EUR). With this ticket, one person can make four journeys; two persons can make two journeys, or four persons can make one journey.
